Stress

Our lives are fast paced.

The demands placed upon us by work, our family and even ourselves can be unrelenting. Stress impacts us physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. And while we are biologically wired to respond in ways intended to keep us safe, this response can take a toll over time. The pressure to achieve, and an ever-receding “finish line” often lead to exhaustion, self-doubt and fear. The need to escape is understandable. However, our emotions teach us. The unmet needs intrinsic to stress can give us clues and help us move forward with insight and focus. How do we slow the pace and still maintain our edge? How do we sharpen our self awareness while we soften our inner critic? What patterns of relating with others and ourselves are outdated and getting in the way today? How do we pay close attention to our own needs without losing touch with the needs of others?

Hard life transitions and unexpected events can challenge our best efforts to care for ourselves. Sometimes we need someone to sit by our side, listen closely and help us find the path forward.
